Saban on Alabama offense: âYou didnât see me get on them over there?â
Nick Saban had a simple answer for ESPN’s Quint Kessenich when asked after halftime of Saturday’s game with Mississippi State about how his offense had changed from “sloppiness” to “execution” during the course of the first half.
The Crimson Tide fumbled twice (though it recovered both times) and committed a false start during the early stages of the game, causing Saban to erupt on the sideline.
“You didn’t see me get on them over there?,” Saban asked. “Maybe that’s what changed, I don’t know. You make that call.”
Saban’s histrionics apparently worked, as Alabama rolled up 157 yards on the ground in the first half, with four rushing touchdowns. The Crimson Tide led 31-10 at the break.
In addition to 76 yards and two touchdowns rushing, quarterback Jalen Milroe was also 5-for-5 passing for 84 yards. Saban gave credit to the offensive line.
“I thought they did a great job of controlling the line of scrimmage,” Saban said. “We were able to make some positive runs. We’ve done a better job of protecting the quarterback, so we could make some throws down the field.”
